FAQ – Questions & Answers on the ReGES study

ReGES is a study of the Leibniz Institute for Educational Trajectories (LIfBi), an institute associated with the University of Bamberg. An international research team is in charge of conducting this study. The ReGES project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
The interviews for the ReGES study will be carried out by the infas Institute for Applied Social Sciences.
The study is carried out in the five federal states of Bavaria, Hamburg, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saxony. Children and adolescents with their parents are the focus of the ReGES study. Teaching staff are also involved in the survey. Full-time staff and volunteers working for municipalities and shared accommodation have already been surveyed.
No. ReGES is a scientific project which analyses the situation of people with a refugee background. There is no connection to any department assessing asylum applications.
Participation is voluntary. Nonetheless, every single participant is important to the project’s success! In the long term, you will contribute to improving the situation of people with a refugee background living in Germany. You will also receive a small thank you gift from us for your participation.
We consider your data strictly confidential and will use it for academic purposes only. None of the responses can be attributed to you personally.
In general, only the participants who have agreed to do so will be surveyed more than once. Our initial survey was available in eight different languages. However, later surveys will not be available in all languages.
Surveys normally take place twice a year. Before the survey, you will be notified as to when and how it will be conducted. In order to keep up to date and to receive our notifications, we recommend that you use the my infas app.
